Von Maur sets opening of store

Alabama's newest department store is set to open its doors to the public at Riverchase Galleria November 2. This is Von Maur Department stores first location in Alabama.

The three-level, 185,000 square foot store is located at the mall's former Macy's location. It will eventually employ more than 200 associates. The store underwent a full reconstruction.

Von Maur is a family-owned business. It operates 27 stores and is committed to expanding one to two stores each year. In the past two years, it has opened two stores in Georgia.

    A seven-year, $49 million project is aimed at some of Alabama's poorest counties in an effort to raise the high school graduation rate and get more students in college.
