Von Maur sets opening of store

Alabama's newest department store is set to open its doors to the public at Riverchase Galleria November 2. This is Von Maur Department stores first location in Alabama.

The three-level, 185,000 square foot store is located at the mall's former Macy's location. It will eventually employ more than 200 associates. The store underwent a full reconstruction.

Von Maur is a family-owned business. It operates 27 stores and is committed to expanding one to two stores each year. In the past two years, it has opened two stores in Georgia.

    The Boaz Police Department needs your help to find a missing diabetic woman. Shirley Stillson was last seen walking on Watts Road on March 23rd. She was wearing a gray zip-up style sweatshirt and blue jeans. Stillson is a diabetic but did not take any of her medication when she left her home. She also does not have a cell phone.     Hoover police say they have the man responsible for robbery in 2012.In September of 2012, a man robbed the Subway on John Hawkins Parkway at gunpoint. Two employees were forced to take the cash drawer to the back office, while being followed by the suspect. The gunman threatened to shoot both employees if they did not fully cooperate. The suspect took $164.00 before taking off. The victims told police the suspect spat what appeared to be tobacco spit into a trash can in the back office.Crime ...More >>
